Aerotalon Partners With Tabula to Take the Admin Out of Aerial Application
On this page
Why we built it
Ag flying generates a punishing amount of paperwork for the number of hours actually flown. A pilot can put in a full day of loads and still owe the office a flight record, a landing count and a duty entry — all of it already captured, in some form, by the guidance system in the aircraft. The second entry is not just wasted time; it is where the numbers start to drift apart.
Aerotalon already carries the operational side for aerial agricultural operators — scheduling, flight records, crew currency, duty and FRMS limits, maintenance, airworthiness and safety reporting. What it did not have was a direct line to the system recording the application work itself. Tabula's AirVision does exactly that, combining GPS guidance, live fleet tracking and proof of application in the cockpit. Connecting the two was the obvious thing to do, so we did it.
What lands in Aerotalon
Aerotalon imports each aircraft's day from Tabula and creates the flights, landings and duty records from it. The ops log fills itself in as the aircraft works.
Post-flight notes come across with the day, and activity names flow through to the logbook with hours attached. Nobody reconstructs the day from memory at 7pm.
The same API key lets Tabula read your airworthiness status back — read-only, never write — so the cockpit reflects what maintenance says about the aircraft.
One key covers both directions. There is no middleware to run, no CSV export step, and nothing for either side to maintain separately.
“Compliance and flying have traditionally pulled operators in two directions, with manual admin filling the gap. Aerotalon and Tabula share a vision built on simplicity with systems that are simple to use, talk directly to each other, and give operators a connected workflow that reduces paperwork, all while keeping them fully compliant.”
“Operators are increasingly looking for ways to reduce administration and remove friction between systems. This integration is about making pilots' and operators' lives easier — reducing double handling, improving data accuracy, and creating a more connected operational workflow.”
What changes day to day
The difference shows up in the hours after the flying stops:
- No second round of data entry — the day is already in Aerotalon when the aircraft shuts down
- Fewer transcription errors — the times come straight from the system that recorded them
- Duty and flight records that line up — landings and duty are built from the same source as the flight
- Airworthiness visible in the cockpit — Tabula reads the current status back, so crews are not flying on a stale picture
- One picture of the operation — flights, crew, duty and maintenance in the same place, not four
Part of a wider integration library
Our position on integrations has not changed: operators should not have to abandon the tools they already fly with to get a single operational record. Tabula joins a growing library that includes OzRunways and AvPlan EFB for electronic flight bag data, Spidertracks, Garmin inReach, NSE, v2Track and ACARS datalink for tracking, Xero for accounting, Rezdy Connect for bookings, and RDC for airport charges — with CAMP, Avinode and Web Manuals in progress.
About Aerotalon
Aerotalon is an aviation operations platform that connects scheduling, flight records, maintenance, crew management, safety, and operational oversight in one system. Built by aviation professionals, Aerotalon helps operators simplify workflows, reduce administrative complexity, and improve visibility across day-to-day operations.
About Tabula
Founded in New Zealand in 2006, Tabula is a global field operations platform that connects planning, guidance, live visibility and proof of work in one system. Supporting agriculture, aviation and emergency response, Tabula enables organisations to manage complex operations with greater clarity, coordination and control.
